Have a 305 with headers exhaust with stock converter and auto trans. Looked around but everyone keeps saying get a 350, if I could I would. Found many Ideas, but wanted to hear it from the horses mouth. If you have a 305 with a cam, let me know what you are running and how it runs and sounds. Just looking for help is all. Thanks in advance

Bigger cams work better with a higher stall, but it isn't necessary with all cam swaps. I wouldn't spend 250-300 bucks on a cam for that 305. I'd find a used LT1 cam and shorten the dowel. Get some cheap 1.6 roller rockers or roller tipped rockers.
The reason I say this is because those heads are going to negate a nice cam.

stock LT1 cam is a good upgrade for 305s... i personally wouldnt throw money at a 305. Spray it with nitrous til it blows (it will take more nitrous than you think) then put a block with a proper bore size in its place.

Get a LT1 cam and spray it till it blows up like Joel said! I once met a guy running low 12's with a lt1 cam and a 200 shot with a 305

Btw the dowel is press fit in so you don't need to cut it, just yank it.

Hmm.. thanks guys! I have thought about the lt1 cam, wanted a little lobe to it ya know. But you are probably right just to stick with the knowns facts of the lt1 cam. Spray a tbi? with like a plate? Wouldnt I have to get different injectors and even retard the timing? Not sure on that.sigpic

Just make sure you get a wet kit - TBI plate or nozzles. If you plan to spray 125 or less you can keep stock pump/injectors/timing...well, that's what Nitrous Express says...personally I'd back off the timing a bit.Originally posted by 89newfun View PostHmm.. thanks guys!
