i have a 1994 z28 with power windows the problem is the passenger side gets stuck going up and down sometimes...its not all the time tho..i was wondering if the motor was going out...or is it the regulator? how can i tell the difference? or this something normal with this year...

Remove the door panel and look at the bottom edge of window there are 2 rollers in a track they are mounted on rivited studs. The studs come loose and bind, but this inspection should lead you to problem.

We went through this with another member's car not too long ago. In my opinion - and if anyone disagrees please chime in - it's always the window motor UNLESS your window is moving around loose in the door cavity. I've had both fail - when the regulator failed the rollers disconnected from the plate of glass and my glass was loose in the cavity. Otherwise, all the regulator is is basically an "X" with a hinge in the middle that allows the arms of the X to move if that makes sense.

That said - I'd go with the window motor being bad. Sometimes the window motors come with the regulator, so they use regulator and motor synonymous. QuickTop could chime in - he was having similar problems and they told him it was the regulator.

After my time being a rebellious little teenager and not listening to Meissen, my problem was the window motor itself. so like he said if the window is firm in the door and doesn't move around its your window motor.

P.S When looking for the motor dont call any auto parts store or your local shop unless you personally know the mechanic they will chew you out of as much money as they can. find the motor online and install it yourself. It will save you about $250 from the price i was quoted. Goodluck!

Rockauto.com has window motors from 24 dollars to 62 dollars.

Its the motor. Just did one on a friends (shiv15) camaro this morning. Follow the SH box guide and you should be able to knock it out in an hour.
