There is no limit to how much you can spend. As for a rear end. I broke my 10 bolt twice when my car was just a 400rwhp head cam car with a 6 speed. First time it broke I didn't have the cash for a new rear end so I just had it rebuilt with some new gears. broke it a year later again and bought a 9". Your best bet is to shop around and find used parts. I probably have spent half as much money on my car buying good used parts and scoring deals than if I bought everything brand new.1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

my stock 10bolt is fine. its not how much HP you have, its how much grip your tires have, and how hard you hit it. 6spd is harder than an a4 because your slammin gears, and you cant really pre-load the suspension/rear on a launch. i dont have any traction. if you have 500HP your gonna need a rear end if you want the car to move98 z28, m6, monster clutch, eibach pro kit, custom twin turbo setup, 317 heads, z06 valve springs, arp rod bolts, 512rwhp at 10lbs. cobra eater

my recomendation if your doing like you say and want to make your car durable is to build the 383 forged internals. trickflow 21* heads.they come in 62 or 54cc cumbustion chambers. go with a custom grind cam. bullit racing cams has some nice stuff. not that L.E. or A.I. dont. but bullit has a betterr knowladge base. LT4 ported intake. and your good as gold as far as power and reliability.
as for your rear end. 12 bolt all the way. a 12 bolt will only eat up about 28-40 hp before it get to the ground and can reliably handle the power. a 9" will eat up anywhere from 60-80hp before the tires. a 9" also weighs more than a 12 bolt. you can buy them from anyplace that offers the 9" useally. heres some links..
heads.

i love A.i. heads. L.E. heads are ok and i will continue to give him my business in camshafts. mainly becouse hes good at them slow but good. and hes a honest man. sometime that just dose it all. check this thread out he's nighttrain66. a very honest sinsear man. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/lt1-...rk-lt1s-99250/

rear
moser rear axles i have very good luck with. as far as 12 bolts go.
***note***
theres alot of people on here that will tell you to go to A.I. while other will tell you to go to L.E. there both good companys with there own skill sets revolving around either head work or cam grind knowladge. im not going to get into a big discussion over it. but i will tell you A.I. dose some great heads. and L.E. knows his cam grinds. but if you want some real power go A.I. heads and a custom ground bullit racing cam. hope this helps.

Lol yep. I have 373rwhp and a BITEY clutch. It has a reputation for chirping 4th gear, and I have a reputation for breaking throttle cablesOriginally posted by kammi10 View Postand there are guys like joel who make much more power then stock on a 10 bolt and a t56 and beat the hell out of it and it wont break
I have street tires though, so for all the beating on it I do, there is a "fuse." If I had anything sticky my axle would have probably exploded 12 times now.
He probably has a good 450 rwtq... and he has nittos... and he has clutch dropped it from a dead dig several times trying to break it ... its still alive.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostIsnt Jon's Trans Am still on the stock rear end? He has to be well into 400's.

I have an M6 and I preload my driveline when I launch at the track. You just have to hold the brake with your heel and slip the clutch with your toes and work the throttle with your right foot.Originally posted by Gaspo View Postmy stock 10bolt is fine. its not how much HP you have, its how much grip your tires have, and how hard you hit it. 6spd is harder than an a4 because your slammin gears, and you cant really pre-load the suspension/rear on a launch. i dont have any traction. if you have 500HP your gonna need a rear end if you want the car to move- 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 - M6 / Brembo Package / 3.73 / Bama Tune / Catless X / Corsa Xtreme /

ya, its do-able. not like an auto tho. and it depends on your clutch. mine can hardly slip at all. its almost a light switch. but its not under load between each shift. everytime you engage your clutch, it lets pressure off the ring gear. everytime you slam the next gear, it snaps pressure back into it.Originally posted by 94ss68c10 View PostI have an M6 and I preload my driveline when I launch at the track. Like what jeremy said, I cant really do that with my clutch. The line between engaged/disengaged is too fine and even if i did manage it, it would heat up and start to slip... Only takes a few seconds to get hot. What kind of clutch do you have? I will say i do use te ebrake sometimes to help control my launches.Originally posted by 94ss68c10 View PostI have an M6 and I preload my driveline when I launch at the track.
