  • Adjustable Fuel Pressure.

I was just looking at a dyno where someone lowered the stock fuel pressure to 36psi. He said he was gaining even more at 35psi.

How could adjusting the psi increase horsepower.

If what he was saying is from the factory the car runs rich and by leaning out the mixture he was getting closer to stoichiometric?

    It was on a 96 WS6.

    Information from WS6.com

Leans out the afr at WOT maybe but that is a stupid way to do it.

If I am not mistaken WOT goes into open loop and ignores the O2 sensors and the MAF sensor and just dumps fuel correct? So it could possibly dumping to much fuel in and not getting stoichiometric correct?

Mine ran VERY rich with the factory tune. Black smoke at WOT.

I have heard of people cranking the fuel pressure to make the injectors flow more.

Never have I heard of someone turning it down just to lean out the WOT mixture.

              Thats what tuning is for...

only time I've heard of adjusting fuel pressure to lean out was in a standalone for nitrous. This guy sounds like he is in for trouble.

I guess theoretically it's possible. My car got better numbers on the dyno when it was at 14.7 AFR than it did at 12.x AFR. Not to mention the day of the 14.7 AFR run it was a LOT hotter and the day of the 12.x run it was a little cooler. Doesn't mean it'd run good down the track, but if the numbers are all you're looking for...

Leaner is always going to make more power to a certain extent. Safety and reliability become a factor when you start to lean on them like that.

Exactly. Keep running WOT at 14.7 and see what happens to your engine.

Dr Phil didn't even want to do the 2nd dyno run when he saw the 14.7 afr... but when I told him I had mahle pistons he was Ok with it since they're forged.
