I'm giving up on this one. Screw it. A wild cam will be worth the mpg loss.

I just filled up drove 185 miles and it took 13 gallons just now. All normal city driving and absolutely zero highway.

Thats about exactly what I get with the cammed stalled 5.3... usually a bit less than 200 if all city or close to it, and my best so far is 282, all highway, cutout closed. Usually average 220 a tank, it sucks. Last year before cam and stall I was getting 280 a tank on average and could squeeze 320 if it was all highway.

Yesterday was all highway for me. In the city, when I only drive it one day a week and have fun I average ~160 to 3/4 tank. Mixed I got about 220. BUT, it's not stock.

Wow - never realized that my ~16mpg was in modded LS1 territory.

Keep in mind that I have a 6spd. and a pretty bomb-ass tune.

Well I decided to take a short trip and see just how much mpg I'm getting on the highway. I filled up before and after the trip at the same exact pump. I drove 72 miles total and averaged 23.9 mpg. Does that sound right?

Edit: Forgot to mention was going 70mph the whole time at 1500 rpm (love stock gears lol)

Yeah sounds to be in the ballpark. I got 25mpg doing 80 in 6th gear with 2500 mile old oil and a clogged air filter

Really? So what's up with the factory rating of 29 hwy? and people making claims of 30-31 mpg?

Some people have super cars. I managed somewhere in the low 20's mpg with my cammed LT1 for FBody's at the Barns.

I'm pretty sure my car could hit 29 hwy no problem doing 55mph in 6th gear
