My bolt on LT1 ran 12.80s in the quarter and gets 24 mpg city/highway with a 6 speed and 4.10 gears. I get about the same millage now with 3.42 gears..............................ill be switching back to 4.10s shortly, lol. Good luck, Eric L

My car has second gear start and i take advantage of it everytime I drive down the side streets. It helps when at a stop sign to get going because first gear just makes the tires spin when there is just enough snow. As soon as I turn off the main roads I reach over and flip that little switch. I don't think it is good as traction control TCS but it does help because it starts the car out in second gear and then shifts up from there as needed. Not recommended for speeds higher than 35 or something like that I think.

Another advantage is lower insurance rates

whats a rough estimate of your insurance, the car will be in my moms name with me as a driver on it. and also do you run different tires in the winter. because my goal is for it to become a daily driver. and from what ive read they are extremely dependable, and little goes wrong with them if properly taken care of

Um I would have to ask my dad I forgot what it was, I do remember him saying that it was cheaper to insure than it would a honda civic that same year. I run BF Goodrich Traction T/As all year around, they seem to be a great all weather tire. In the snow all I have to do is put some weight in the back and it owns the road. When I can afford it I want to put Torq thrust II rims on her with pirelli tires for the summer.

As long as you know how to do basic repairs, and preventive maintenance you should be all set. As soon as I drove my car home I replaced the trans filter, fuel filter, complete seafoam, and two new O2 sensors. She ran B-E-A-utiful. Also took apart the entire intake and cleaned it, flushed the radiator, and fixed the lights on the radio. She was running great before I did all this but I just wanted some extra peace of mind.

i was planning on selling my 79 t/a project for some extra cash, and put that towards some goodies, it al depends on what i get and if its already modded. and im pretty mechanical so i know how to work on a car and keep it in excellent running condition.

I wish my mom wanted to buy me a car! lol

Like everyone else said if the late 3800 are a good cars!. My brother bought it new and I drove it for 45,000 miles. My only real compaint is the V6 rasp of the exhaus! I usually go 26-28 mpg average and as high at 33 going 80(5 speed).
My current car gets 26-27 mpg but I have to buy premium and it not geared for the HWY like the camaro was.

But if you want a 3rd gen v6 or v8 neither are that GOOD on gas.

These cars arnt all about the 1320, its about the drive.

My 3.4 car got between 17 and 26. Granted a 4th gen V8 will do similar, the 3.4 is by no means a "bad" motor. Most have tons of miles and are not taken care of.
No shit! We beat the hell out of our 3.4 crapmaro all day long and it takes it all. It's not fast by any means but with its mods it will take down a 3.8 4th gen with exhaust and intake. Good enough for me!
