Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
I'm going to be headed to Nashville, Mi this week to pick up a boat that my wife owns

Hey B, can you put an "r" in front of the "you" in my title?

I dont understand how degreeing is even beneficial since its the cam itself that is usually off due to manufacturer specs. (meaning cam lobes in relation to the dowel pin). a degree wheel on the end of the cam isnt going to tell you anymore than the dowel pin/dot is going to tell you, other than in a more accurate fashion If there was a tool that measured when the valves were opening, and compared that to when they are supposed to, I could see that being useful, or at least an accurate way of telling you how screwed up your car is
maybe older motors are different? Even if my cam was "off" theres nothing id be able to do about it other than install it a tooth off which 9 times out of 10 would be way more inaccurate than what it was in the first place. You'd need a custom made timing set to fix it correctly, which ive never heard of anyone doing.
Ive probably done 6 cam swaps now and ive never degreed a cam. But everything i work on is LTx or LSx, and "Dot to dot" on the timing set has worked just fine.
I have the impression it is a dated issue the way i hear old hot rodders talk about it all the time - perhaps the vast array of timing sets that could be used on a large variety of engines. ive never seen or heard of any problems with cams being off on LT or LS engines which use pretty standardized parts. Ive never had a problem achieving dot-to-dot.
Chad, the computer wouldnt be able to compensate for the cam being off other than just learning how it will run best with whatever it is has. its locked in place with a chain and controls physical airflow.

You NEED an adjustable timing set to degree a cam properly. The best advice I would give on the subject is have someone cam doctor your camshaft before its installed to make sure it was grouned properly, then throw it in dot to dot and be done.In reality the only thing your doing by degreeing the cam is setting the power band further up or down the rpms, your not gonna fix a mistake in the grind.
Right, I meant to say line it up dot to dot and fire it up. Tuning does the rest. We did the 847 cam in my green Z m6 and got the pcm file from pcmforless.com and the car almost runs like stock. I couldn't believe how well it drove. You dont have to rev it too the moon either.
