Need help with Pontiac 455 alternator brackets

    Need help with Pontiac 455 alternator brackets

    So i have a couple of questions. Does the 455 have 2 alternator brackets? front and rear? Also is there a difference between the 71-79 455 alternator brackets? I am asking is because my alternator is not set right and the belt keeps sqeeking like no other. So does anyone have any experience with these? I dont know what year the motor is i just know its a 455! Any pics would be great. All i see is a bracket coming off the intake that is used for adjusting it.

    BTW it has V belts not supertine ones.

    Hard to tell from the pic, sort of looks like the previous owner just "made" the bracket work there. Hopefully a couple of the earlier generation gurus can help you out, good luck!

            Yeah, you have several issues going on there...the upper radiator hose is definitely not right...looks like you're missing the thermostat elbow to the intake...

            EDIT: The more I look at it...what intake is that?

                  has anyone decoded the engine to find out what the correct brackets hould look like?

                      Its an Eldlebrock Performer Pontac Intake. Also, it does not have heating nor aircondition in it!

                        Well it has to be a 73/74 455 cause the castings on the heads is a 4X

                            Yeah that's definetely an Edelbrock Performer (looks like my old 400)

                            And the Link Jeff posted is dead on for what you need but you could check some local bone yards for the part aswell.
