  • Throttle stuck?

On my way home today, I noticed when I went to stop, it felt like I was slidding a little. I figured it was just some ice. Well 1 time I just took my foot off the break and my Blazer started taking off. It was around 1500rpm's, and I got up to around 35. This was about the last mile before I got home. When I pulled into my driveway I slide in due to the snow and the Blazer wanting to go. So I left it running and popped the hood and I noticed the rpms go up to about 2000 then come back down to around 1000 and my Check Engine Light came on. When I got my oil changed 1 time, the garage said my throttle body was pretty dirty and needed to be cleaned. I've been waiting for it to warm up to do it. So I'm guessing now I have no choice but to go clean it if this is what's causing the problem. I have a guy suppose to look at it at 10 am and take it for a ride tomorrow as well, so this sux this happened.

So anyway spraying some carb cleaner into the intake manifold while the Blazer is running should help clean it up right and fix my problem or do I need to do something else?

My friend has an issue with his '95 Jimmy that's also throttle related, he has the SES light on, but it's for a high idle.

Did you get your code read?

Mine did the exact same thing a few times, turns out the throttle body was really gunked up. We took it off and cleaned the hell out of it and voila no more sticking.

No Kyle I didn't get it check yet. It did it when I got home and then I came on here and posted pretty much. I'm gonna try cleaning it tomorrow morning and hope that fixes the problem.

Carb cleaner shouldn't affect the motor I used brake cleaner on mine. I would however remove the throttle body, wouldn't want all that crap going into the motor.

What is there to removing the tb? Any gaskets or anything? Never done anything with 1 before plus I'd like to do this as quick as possible since I have to do it outside and it's only suppose to be a high of 25* tomorrow.

should be fine cleaning the TB on the motor using carb cleaner - if its really bad you may want to spray it heavily and then use a toothbrush to scrub the walls

It's a 95 Blazer. So should just be a few bolts holding it in?
