Ty, I am not a huge fan of the LT1 style cars but yours is one in particular that I really like. I really think if you are considering upgrading to a V8 you have to look hard at doing a swap first. and don't be to intimidated either, you'll get plenty of help and support here.

Does anyone know any sites that could help me out. Im sure that there arent any for a 5.3 swap, but it cant be too different than the ls1 stuff.

Can anyone kinda throw a list of parts that you think i would need, so i can start adding it all up to see how much it costs.

Ill prolly start cleaning up the motor, and taking some stuff off it, and see what i have next week

If I may make a couple suggestions Ty.

If it were me. I'd wait till this next winter to do the swap. That way you can still enjoy your car this summer. Unless you have the $$ and the time to do it quickly.

As for parts, I'm sure somebody's done a 5.3 swap into a v-6 car. I would start searching LS1Tech, LS1.com, CamaroZ28 and so on for info.

Not me, I get a lot more pride from building something than just throwing money at something. Anyone who has money could have an awesome car, but not all of those people could build an awesome car with their own two hands. Takes a bit more effort as well.

Plus, if he went and bought a v8 he would remember that once he owned a v6 sold it and bought a V8. But if he does it himself he will remember the whole process, the things that went wrong, the things that went right, the joy of hearing it start for the first time for he himself brought it to life again.
The joy comes from the possibility that it might not have started, and he must have done everything right if it did.

By doing it himself he will gain memories for a lifetime of an accomplishment.

Buy just buying the finished product all he gets is the car.

You can buy a lot of things in this world, but currently you can't buy the memories of doing a project yourself.

Very well said!!! Memories are priceless! The overwhelming sense of accomplishment when you drive it for the first time cannot be bought...anywhere at any price. His car is too damn nice to sell for a V8 car.

If i go through with this, it will definetly be my winter project after the summer. I always go nuts not doing aything on my car during the winter, so it would keep me interestted.

As for selling it and getting a v8, i pretty much agree with james and ezysk how i know i would get a lot more satisfaction out of building it myself, even if it costs a little more money. I also always wanna learn more about cars, and by doing a swap, i think i can learn a lot.

well, browsing ls1tech, i found a nice red 98 camaro.

I had looked at this a while back and thought it would be a perfect project for me to dig into. 4000 for almost everything. I wanted a ls1, ttops, m6, and leather, and this is it. I wanted to get somehting that needed some work, and this looks like a decent deal.

What do you all think, say i got this car, would you build this car because its got it all cept motor, or swap all the parts to my car, and part out the rest for money......

honestly i like the looks of your car alot better... although you could just take as much of your body panels off as you could and really all you would need is a little paint to finnish up the shell... that would be less work and you 5.3 would fit right in there... and you would still get the satisfaction of building it yourself...
