Swap...or dont swap?!?

Alright, well talking to joel yesterday on the way to berger, and talking to many of the westsiders at berger about it, im considering lookin into a v8 swap into my car.

I made a thread about this a while back last year about this 5.3? motor that is just sitting in my barn. I think i would have a hard time selling my car, just because i really like the looks of it, and since i cant sell it for much money either.

So im looking into how much it would cost (dont care about work time, cause its fun) to swap this into my car.

Im comming on here to get some opinions on if this is a good idea, and what you think it would take. Also for a good parts list of what you think i would need to do a full swap (kmember, pcm, blah blah

I would like to get a m6 to go along with it, well, just because, so i would need to find a t56, clutch, console, and all that jazz to swap from a4 to m6.

Couple of thoughts here:

Your going to need to swap over to LS1/6 intake and along with that you'll need an LS1 accessory setup (could be expensive as hell?)

Then you'll need a wire harness and PCM, K member, v8 springs?

Whats involved in the dash? are the gauges the same voltage range as LS1 stuff?

The swap is totally doable. A guy that used to live 3 doors down did it in his V6 99 camaro. He was into all kinds of weird shit. He put a 5.3 into a V6 'maro, I5 outta a Trail Blazer into a Wrangler, an 5.0 (mustang, not TA) into a Miata, a 883 Sportster engine into a golf cart, and a Hayabusa engine into his Harley.

I would recommend that you find a 98-02 Camaro that has been smashed up in the back and use that as a doner car. That would be the easiest way to do the swap, then you are not hunting for that all important part that you need.

def a good idea to have all the parts on hand, so all you need is stuff like gaskets and small stuff.. instead of getting into a " i got a transmission, and i need all this stuff too?!" type situation..

all you need is a donor ls1 trans and wire harness... figure maybe 3k to get it all done... i wouldnt think it would be too hard... worst part will probably be routing the wire harness...
