I would Have to agree with this statement. Its got to be 50 degrees in my garage before I will stay out there for any length of time.

        • It's been awhile....haven't been able to work on the car much because of how cold it's been. I did FINALLY finish up my cold air intake. This was a bigger task that I thought. I knew I wanted 4 inch tubing and I wanted it mandrel bent and polished. After looking a bunch of places, I found this UJ mandrel bent stainless steel pipe from a place in Canada. I also ordered up all the t-bolt band clamps and silicone connectors I needed.

The stock MAF on these motors is 3.5 inch OD and the throttle body is a 4 inch OD...so I used two silicone reducers to make the transition to and from the MAF. I was able to find a HUGE 4 inch K&N filter at the local speed shop.

Anyways, this turned out to be a bit hard to fit into the space I had....it took many attempts and LOTS of trimming and fussing. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out....I like how I was able to run the pipe under the upper radiator hose outlet...also kinda hides the MAF under the hose. I got lucky with the rad hose....fits around the tube awesome without touching it.

                  • I figured you'd connect it to the stock intake setup. I would think that area would get more air than where you have it now.

I belive your swap is first class, all the way. I'm very excited to see the old '85 back on the road. It's gonna be awesome!

                      • Thanks guys!

                        Matt.....um, keep expecting

Sean....sure, how much money you got?

Wade....the stock TPI dual snorkle is a very restrictive piece....ever look inside one? Dyno tests have proven it is restrictive on a low speed high torque motor such as the TPI, high speed motor....forget about it.

Doug......thanks buddy, hope we can cruise our 85's together sometime this summer....hint hint

I am the same way...I've wanted to put an LS1 into a 3rd gen for a long time but you level of detail is very impressive.

You should sell your tips to one of the 3rd gen websites!
