Ok guys, looking to swap my 2.8 to a 5.7. First question, motor mounts the same or no? Second question, will a 350 bolt up to the 5 speed that is in my car now. If not, what tranny do you recommend. I have dual exaust on my car, i want a carborated 350, no fuel injection. Let me know what your ideas are.

Transmissions from 4.3 liter Chevy V6's will mount to Chevy V8's.
V6 T5 transmissions can be used behind a V8. But, you will need a V8 bellhousing, and the input shaft is smaller than V8 T5's - meaning you need a small-spline clutch disk (reports are there is a 10" S10 small spline disk available), and the transmission will be very weak and will not stand up to V8 abuse.'91 Camaro Modded, LSx, House of Kolor Intense White, lowered, GS chrome 18" wheels, 14" Brembo CTS-V on all 4 corners, LS rear end, FP suspension components

Hey TJ,
Motor mounts will need to be replaced for sure, not super hard to do.
The bellhousing on the 2.8 manual trans is NOT the same as the 350, with that being said, I'm sure with some effort you can get that trans to mount up, but in all reality, it wouldn't last very long, they just weren't meant to stand up to the torque of the 350, which is why the thirdgens never came with a manual trans on the 350.. only the 305 came with it... and even them are not super durable.. what most people would probably recommend for a manual trans for a 350 would be to either A) get a T-56 setup out of an LT1 4th gen and swap it in or B) take your trans (assuming its a T-5) and have it completely rebuilt and beefed up, and have the bellhousing replaced with the proper bell housing.. and make sure the input shaft/spline count is correct for your needs as well. both of those options will run you probably anywhere from $1000-$2000 I would imagine, unless you rebuild your trans yourself and know what you are doing.
Going manual trans you have a few options as well.. easiest option would be to purchase a 700r4 out of a thirdgen (that already has the mounts for the torque arm) and mount it in, but note here if you do that you will have to also do a couple other things too.. you will have to buy trans cooling lines to run to/from your radiator, potentially a new radiator if it doesn't have the hookup for the trans cooling lines, automatic pedal assembly, automatic shifter assembly (preferably a hurst megashifter) and the detent cable and bracket that tells the trans when to shift, not nearly as expensive as the manual trans option, but still time consuming.. personally I would probably go the beefing up the trans you have route since you already own it.. do a little research and make sure it IS actually a T-5
if you crawl under your car, you will probably see that it is actually a single pipe that connects to a muffler that has dual outlets, my guess is that pipe is probably a pretty small diameter (you should probably measure it) you will probably want to upgrade that exhaust at some point.. my car is running 3" single exhaust all the way back, trust me.. the stock 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 is not worth crap. running a carb is pretty straighforward.. just need to make sure you have the right size carb for your engine (if stock 350 probably somewhere around a 650 would be fine).. if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try and help as much as possible.. I have some left over parts that may help you along your build also if interested.. (HEI distributor, fuel pump, etc)

also, if you decide to do the ground affects to the car, it would probably be easier to do so by swapping out the front bumper cover with one that has the ground affects already.. if you end up swapping the whole bumper cover.. lemme know.. I will buy your old one off you."Project Shadowfax" <- Clicky Clicky
