  • Alternator bracket and headers

Do they go together? The way I see it, you need the thickness of the manifold to make the bracket fit correctly. Should I sleeve the bolt and use the bracket, or do I not need to worry about it?

IRRC the bracket doesnt bolt to the manifold, just to the front of the head and the water pump

The alternator sits in an aluminum housing that the power steering pump shares. The alternator bolts to th is with two bolts then there's one more on the back that bolts to a bracket that bolts to the front manifold bolt. Just like the AC unit.

i left it off when i did my headers, the sleeve washer was too thick to cooperate with the header so i realized it barely did much work in the first place and left it off, zero problems, junk it

I don't it offering much stability either, especially trying to replace a solid manifold with a sleeve.
