  • Jasper LT1

Ill try and make this as quick as i can, for those of you who know, i am looking at a 96 trans am with what the ad said to have had a replaced LT1. When i called the guy he told me he had replaced the LT1 with one from jasper, at that time i had no idea what Jasper was i just thought it was a place to find stock LT1's but when i did some research i found that there is a Class 1 and Class 2. Heres what i found about class 2http://www.jasperengines.com/pdf/Cla...-5.7-340-L.pdf i dont know yet if it is a class 1 or 2.
what im asking is, has anyone had these engines or heard anything about how reliable they are. its got 40k on it now..

    Thanks, Bryan.

my trucks engine is a 350 tbi from jasper about 43k on it and im having some sort of issue but it might be bad fuel. overall i think jasper is one of the better names just make sure you get the paperwork proving its rebuild and if its under warranty get that info as well

is it a class 1 stock replacement or class 2 performance?

Of course, i did hear that Jasper has a warranty but does like to screw people out of it whenever things go wrong.

mine was just a replacement i voided the warranty after i threw a different bumpstick in it and a few other things, i was already close to voiding it. different vehicles or categorys of vehicles have different warrantys from my understanding

Ohhh, The only downside im seeing is. i was really looking forward to the stock LT1 making 325 ft/lbs tq at 2400 RPM. especially with a 6 speed. but this motor makes it much higher.. oh well.

Yeah Jasper is the aftermarket engine replacement from my understanding.

Do they take OEM engines with issues and rebuild them or do they make everything them selvs?

They reman old, good engines for replacements. They are good engines, we installed a couple dozen and never had one come back from a bad replacement, and if one did come back for for what ever reason, jasper comped the cost of everything. I would treat it no differently than a stock engine.

Jasper has good reman engines. I bought a Chevy van years ago that had one and no issues.

They lowered the stock compression on their performance engine.

The cam is a big bigger.
