  • 400 sbc walking backwards?

ok guys i will start off the story like this. the lt1 in my car is toast and it is at the engine builder now.. all i have is the block everything else is bad.. but my g/f dad has a 400 small block with a solid roller with nice aluminum heads ect and he wants 1500$ for it ... well do you guys think it would be walking backwards and it still would bolt to my t-56 right?

Getting ready to build a 400 Small block myself. I can tell you for sure you will need a new flywheel to make the 400 bolt to the T56 if it has a 2 piece seal. I have no idea if anything will be a problem as I have never owned a LT1 but a T56 I gots.

I assume it is Gen 1 SB. If it is it will turn into an expensive project.

Wether you keep it fuel injected or switch to carb, either will many obstacles to overecome.

gen 1 would be new engine mounts at that point switch to tubular K member. I have a gen 1 sbc in my 93.

if this is the 3rd gen version of the LT-1 then i would buy the block and move your origanal heads over to it along with you intake. if its 93 and newer you going to put alittle money into it to make it work. but its not as bad as some make it. Iv put big block into 4th gen without much problem.

all you should have to do it mod your mounts go with a 700r4 or a trans contoler if it a automatic 4l60e. and if its a stick just get a differand clutch. your headers should still work on a gen 1 motor
