I agree, here is a video of one I found... I like how the raised areas are outlined and not completely transparent... Not sure how he did it though

If I would have read down a couple posts, I would have found this excellent bit of information...

There was a guy on LS1Tech that had a good right up but his page is down now. You basically just need the clear front license plate, some 12" cold cathode tubes you can get from EBay, then just tape off the bird and paint the panel so the bird remains clear (especially the sides of the bird that is raised). Then apply the front bird decal over the bird and the sides will still be clear.
It seems kind of difficult and would be hard to make it look perfect... I'll have to ask my painter. I'd rather just tape off the sides and paint the top of the bird red also.

i think it would look best if you left only the angled parts clear. in other words tape off every part that is raised, paint the rest, then put a red vinyl over the inner raised parts. Then only the outline would illuminate.

Right... but wouldn't I get the same effect by just taping the angled/projecting surfaces and paint everything else red? That way the red actually matches the car?

I would pant it all red like stock, JMO. I think the LED's look ricey and there is too much going on with a big lit up bird in front of an already badass front end

yes, but good luck getting that right. you'd be much better off just using a vinyl overlay that costs $5

On top of my point, I just think it is going to be extremely difficult for it to look perfect.

Yeah, it'd be easier if it was a black car, you could just Niteshade that portion...

Actually...if you could deal with a black bird, you could Niteshade it.

Nightshade the bird, then have the raised portion of the bird painted solid with the rest of the cover. Then do the cold cathode tubes. When it's off, the bird will have a black outline and look great during the day. At night it will light up and look sweet.
