Which jack did you get and where did you get it from? Been casually browsing for one as well. Thinking I might be doing a clutch in the near future and that would help tremendously.
Thanks - it was definitely a big relief when it started and ran well. Never done a bottom end rebuild before

This is the trans jack I got. I got it from ARESCO in Pontiac, same place we got the hoist from. It's a two stage hydraulic piston so it can reach the car on the lift and lower it down to a workable height.

    • Trans jacks is one of the most underrated tools you can have imo. I remember wrestling my trans forever the first time i did my clutch. With a trans jack it was pretty much 0 effort... Trans slides on and off in 5 seconds.

Yeah I suspected as much. Only reason I haven't bought one yet is that I haven't had the need and they're not exactly cheap for a decent one. Might finally bite the bullet if I end up having any money left after the imminent binge spending on car parts.

          • Another thing I did. Cut notches in a 2x6 so it fits the bottom of the t56

$400. I justified it by not wanting back spasms again and being out of commission for two months.

                  • I got the transmission, driveshaft and torque arm back in last night. All that's left to do is fill it with fluid and bleed the clutch again tomorrow night. I just hope this trans is right this time...

I also pulled my TA girdle / diff cover. The supplied paper gasket was leaking, so I just cleaned the surfaces and used RTV. So if you get one, throw the gasket away and make your own.

                    • Yeah paper gaskets are NFG. Get a good one or use rtv.

                      • I got the car all buttoned up Friday night and took it to Woodward! It's running great for not being tuned.

I discovered when I got to the Ducati dealership that I had forgot to tie up the clutch remote bleeder... So that had been dragging for about 2 miles. Luckily with some help from @sreef I was able to get it tied up until I could get it back to the shop and do it properly.

Anyways, I'm heading out to drop the car off to Phil for the tune...

                          • It definitely had a nice lope to it, was great to see it running and out in its natural environment once more!

Yessir! Might even get her back tomorrow night.

Also, to expand upon my previous post. The trans is solid now, no more loose 2nd gear. He said he changed a shim out to one that was 15 thou different and that was it.
