No problem buddy. I just needed to clear up the story for those having trouble keeping up. It has been a long drawn out Snafu to say the least. I just hope I can pick up the pieces and get my car back together.

        Update:

The car is at the body shop. Has not moved since I had it towed there. Waiting to have engine bay and hood cut in.

The motor is in various pieces with the long block at a local engine shop until tomorrow when I have to pick it up. Had the bearing clearances checked and bottom end looked at to see what can be salvaged.

The insurance crap is finally over with, Just waiting on a check. Hopefully tomorrow or Monday. (Then the real fun begins Muwahahahah! J/K)

Man I wish that stupid rock was not in the road that day...

Any idea if the rock was there accidentally or purposefully? I'll never forget years ago my dad dropped me off somewhere and then on his way home on the same route he took to get there he saw something in the road at the last minute, swerved and hit it with his wheel. He ended up blowing the tire so he pulled over a quarter/half mile up the street, changed the tire, drove back to look for whatever he hit, couldn't find anything, drove home. When he came back later to come pick me up, there was another car on the side of the road and he hit the same object and busted his oil pan right open. Turns out some kids were playing a "prank" by putting the rock in the street. After my dad hit the rock, a passerby stopped and pushed the rock off the road. "Some how" it mysteriously made it back into the middle of the street so that's how they knew it was someone playing a prank.

            Brian,

To answer your question I do not know. I do not think I ever will. That description sounds eerily familiar to my situation. However I would hate to believe that all this havoc was caused by some punk kid looking for a laugh at someone elses expense. Also considering the time it happened I was driving to work at 5:00AM. I don't know too many kids that would choose to get up that early. It is weird though, I have driven this same route to work twice a day 6 days a week now for 8 months and I have never seen anything like it. I have seen many tree branches, debris, and road kill but never rocks.

Rather I would like to believe that some careless truck driver not securing his load and this rock fell off. Especially since the rock does not appear to be native to the area. It is jagged and broken unlike the native smooth river rocks. I decided to keep the rock as a reminder of how things can happen so quickly.

It sucks because I was not messing around. I was only driving to work. I was on time and had no reason to rush nor drive carelessly. There is no possible way I could not have avoided it, I still am upset that of all the junk cars that travel this country road why must it have been my pride and joy. But I think I got really lucky. With a lot of work, my car is repairable and with the help of the insurance my car can be restored (With me doing most of the work of course) hopefully even better than before.
