just got done pulling my lt1 out of my Trans am
it wasnt as bad as i excepted.. but in the beginning of the summer i was trying to figure out how the heck to pull one of these motors, through the top or bottom?? my dad is pretty old school so he insisted to go through the top... but more and more people i talked to i figured out through the bottom was the best idea. So the next question was how do you get the car up so high without a lift? but solved that one to with simply a cherry picker and some old rims... so now i am going to tear apart the motor and send it off to the machine shop..(does anyone know of some good ones around flint?) I ended up deciding that i am going to run a LE2 setup in my car.. so the LT4 Kit is for sale!! but here are some pics of yesterday..

Great job going out the bottom. I've taken a few out the top and never had an issue. Never attempted to go out the bottom though. Call up Fenton Machine Shop in Fenton, MI. I've done a ton of work through them and never had any issues.2005 Yamaha R6

Ill give you the number for the shop that does all my machining if you want. I have had several motors built there and seen some pretty insane power plants come out of there, I think its considered Holly still but its right around Grangehall rd & N. Holly1996 Trans Am. 355 LT4 + some go fast mods.

Sweet Kyle, your getting a huge jump on getting this done. I would without even thinking use Reichert Racing Engines out of Clio, MI for my machine work. If their shop were to burn to the ground then I would look into A&A Machine Shop in Davison as i've heard good things from them.sigpic1994 Camaro Z28 83K M6, CAI, AFR 190cc, 11.6:1, Hooker headers, Hooker ORY, Mangnaflow exhaust, AI 230/238, 1.6 RR, B&M Short throw, Hays clutch, 4.10 gear.

manuals should be launched off the limiter and the throttle shouldn't leave the floor til 10 feet after the finish line

Through the bottom ftw. I did my 97 SS with no wheels under the rear wheels, and jackstands under the front. Dosent have to go up as far people think. Eric L

The biggest thing that helped me was using a transmission jack under the k member. That worked awsome

Do you mean Reichert's in Owosso? They did all of the machining for my 385 short block. Bill Reichert, the driver of the Bar's Leaks top alcohol dragster, helped me carry the finished block out to my carOriginally posted by Bad_Z28 View PostSweet Kyle, your getting a huge jump on getting this done. Yep Owosso, sorry had Clio on my mind. Very nice guy, and does great work! I've had work done by him numerous times and never an issue.Originally posted by Plantfoam View PostDo you mean Reichert's in Owosso? They did all of the machining for my 385 short block.
