I'm a diehard manual guy but if it was my car I'd toss in a 4l60e with a b&m shifter. I just don't see a Monte Carlo as a 6-spd car for some reason.

I don't see it that way. I'm not a guy to run an auto to be consistant at the track. I couldn't care less if my times were varying by .3 between runs. I'm not a drag guy and I'm not a track guy. I'm a street guy plain and simple. That's awesome if someones car runs 9's all day long but if they had to trailer it there I don't want any part of it.

This car is gonna be a cruiser, it just has the parts to go racing. So manual or auto, it'll probably be more if a good deal comes along, that will decide it. He has no problems with a 6-speed.

I should hope not! His old (my current) camaro was a manual!

Yeah, he was talking about that. He says he'd love to have a stick - but it is much more expensive, so he'd have to come across a good deal.

                    • Hey guys! Still here...im on everyday but I dont post as much. I wanna thank kyle for his help, a lot of that suspension stuff is a 2 person job. I have an LS1 right now sitting in the garage. The plan is to have the block inspected, cleaned and have new bearings put in. Ill be running an aftermarket cam, still undecided which one, and stock heads. Transmission wise Im still a little up in the air, this car is going to be a cruiser not autocross or drag so auto or manual is not a big deal. Ill probably end up going auto with a nice stall on it. Tom the reason I ended up painting the calipers black is because I really didnt want them to stand out, I want them to blend in with the wheel because they are so dinky lol...down the road, end of this summer maybe or a winter project I want to swap the fronts to wilwoods.

Well now that I see your wheel choice it makes a lot more sense to me too. I figured you were going to go with the protouring look with like some 18's with a dish. Sorta like the 18's on the Camaro.

                          • Small update for today.

Sam got the front swaybar back on with the Energy Suspension end links, and mount/bushings, before I came over. Then we went ahead and POR-15d the side frame rails, as well as a little bit of rust/surface rust on the floor pans. Skin is a magnet for POR-15, by the way, but I'm not covered nearly as bad as the last two times. Had I worn a glove, I'd have hardly anything on my skin.

Front wheel wells, wheel tubs have been undercoated, calipers painted black.

Swaybar. It's amazing what some paint will do.

I believe this is before POR and undercoating.

Sam in another candid pose - spraying undercoating on the floor pan right above him.

Headlight trim was cleaned up, sanded and painted.

Shitty picture, but the rails have been POR'd, and most of the floor has been undercoated. Will require some more though, to go over the part of the floor that was POR-15d.

                            Suspension: check.
