  • S.Reef's Winter/Spring Project Thread

So some of you know some of you dont know but I got rid of the Z28. Too many little problems..and big problems, sick of the LT1, sick of putting money into a car i didnt enjoy anymore... anyhow it was time for a new vehicle and project.

What I am currently planning on is getting a 4th Gen Monte Carlo SS and putting an LS1 into it. I really dont have the space for a car in the garage for most of the winter (my parents want to keep their cars in their) so im going to pick a car up sometime maybe late february or early march. This will give me some time to be picky about it. I will be building the engine throughout the winter. As well as picking up parts here and there.

I just picked up a running LS1 earlier today. Guy took the heads/intake and pan. I am going with an LH8 pan which fits well in a G body. Planning on having the cam bearings redone...just to be safe. I havent really decided on heads yet but im looking at probably just a set of milled 241s or maybe 243s. I dont have money for Patriots or anything really nice.

I am undecided on cam. Mike Campbell had some suggestions so as things progress Ill pick his brain some more. Something fairly streetable has a nice lope and still makes some good power.

It is going to be an auto trans with a stall, dont know what size yet, I guess Ill decided when I choose a cam.

Other then the Cam and maybe heads its going to be a fairly bolt on car (LS6 intake, Ported throttle body, Exhaust, ETC)

I am open to suggestions and ideas as this is still in the planning stage for the most part. Ill try and keep this thread updated

My friends trying to sell his 1986 Monte Carlo, SS. as a roller. But still has th350 trans. Its a VERY nice car. VERY solid. Clean car.

An ls1 would be awsome in one.

Here is his CL add. He threw it out there as kind of a feeler/see if anyone would be interested. May seem high, But it is kinda hard finding a nice 4th gen monte that doesnt have 24 inch rims or a horrible candy paint job. And he would take a reasonable offer perhaps.
