Are you set on a Monte? I know of a VERY clean 1987 Regal. Has a blown rear end with a 305 in it currently. $2300 last time I drove by. When I looked it at last month the guy wanted $3000

This is a family friend from down the street and he has like 15 cars on his property. I'm sure he'd park it behind the barn until spring if you gave him like 10% down. I can get pictures and PM you if you'd be interested.

Alright...a little update. Ive been piecing a few parts for the engine here and there. Just bought a set of 853 heads...I was going to do 243s or 799s but I really could use money towards something else in the build...and i got them for really really cheap. So ill end up doing a cam only.

I have a few questions for you folks. First off the block has roughly 100k on it. It was running when pulled. I am going to replace the cam bearings should i look at replacing anything else? I know that a properly maintained ls1 can go forever. Second question $85 to clean engine and install new cam bearings sound fair? Ill be providing the bearings?

I understand the cost of the heads and being within budget but I would keep an eye out for some 243 heads or I can give you my tuners e-mail and have him be on the lookout for a set for you. They can be had for $350 or less and are well worth it

As far as freshening the motor I would have a machine shop clean it up and install new main bearings, ARP studs and cam bearings the peace of mind will be well worth the cost.

absolutely, I'm not sure on cost but it wouldn't hurt to shop around for a few prices and compare. Personally I have had good experience with Dave and he knows LS engines so I would definitely recommend him.
