Sweet engine. What kind of water pump is that? is the crank/pistons/rods forged? I have that same 87 Block. I cant run a mechanical fuel pump can I?

That's just a basic high flow aluminum pump that I found on ebay...not sure of the manufacturer, to be honest...it's been a while. The internals are cast: Eagle crank and rods, with Mogul hypereutectic pistons. This is going to be a street engine with less than 500hp and peak torque at 4000rpm, so I viewed forged as being overkill for my application.

You should be able to run a mechanical pump....the 87-92 roller block has a cavity for it. However, I am not, so I can't really provide you with the right method or parts for it.

My block came from a truck, but the only 2 differences I can note between the car and truck blocks is the location of the oil pressure sensor and the oil filter adapter type.

Yeah cool. My block is from a 87 iroc. was tpi engine. (l98) but idk if it was a roller motor. Im buying the the eagle crank, 6.0 rods, and Keith Black pistons.

Mine was a tappet engine when I took it apart, but as long as you have the provisions for the hydraulic valve train then you are good to go.

Just got some good news....We can start on the swap this Saturday. My dad is a master tech, and the dealership is allowing him to use the shop on Saturdays as long as he creates a ticket for it, so that it is covered under the insurance. We only have between 8 and 3 to work on it, but we should be able to get all of the heavy work done.
