Quickie update!!! It's getting close!!!

Ignore the yucky blue color lid. It will be stripped down and repainted shortly. You can see my bright green Ford 42 lb/hr injectors. Yeah!
Lakewood's bolt-in driveshaft loop is awesome!! Super painless install and very stout piece which will help strengthen the trans tunnel:

That is all for now. I did waaay more over the past two days that I've alluded to. More tomorrow!

A tad..... but not lots (at least for now).Originally posted by 1BADAIR View Post42"s????????????????????????
gonna make some power?
Early on in the project, I decided that corn will eventually make it into the car. From what I've been reading, it's best to have at least 30% more fuel to run it properly. My stock 28.8 lb/hr injectors are rated at 58psi. At the normal 43.5psi rating, they run around 24 lb/hr. This means I need at least 31.2 lb/hr @ 43.5psi, so my 42 lb/hr injectors left over from my 3800 supercharger project are more than capable of getting the job done plus have plenty of room for a little forced induction if I'm so inclined to run it in the future.

The industry standard static pressure for injector flow rates is 3 bar (43.5psi). I don't know why GM decided to switch their rating scale to 4 bar (58psi) for the ls1. Every injector company I've come across (Bosch, Denso, Siemens, Ford) all measure their injectors at 43.5psi. Large re-branding injector companies such as RC Engineering also go by 43.5psi. Five0Motorsport, a rather large injector seller also goes by 43.5psi.Originally posted by 1BADAIR View Postnormal 43.5?
all ls's use 58
dont try to start the engine with out the pcm programmed for the injector size your using
I'm good on the programming aspect. I've been using HP Tuners for years with my previous Cavaliers. This will be my first venture into using E85 though.

Just a quick thought on this picture, love the swap fyi but I thought painting rotors is a BAD idea. Wouldnt that slow you down/get all over ur brake pads and then not stop very well. I have NEVER seen someone paint the whole brake rotor like that...just an observation. lookin good on the engine install tho.Originally posted by Emulsifide View PostUpdate:
Started with this:

After washing it FIVE times including twice with acid to etch it for the POR15 treatment, I finally ended up with this:

Tomorrow I can finish up the rear brake lines and then start dropping the rear suspension into the car.

They sell painted rotors Now a days and I believe paint safe Brake Paint. It's really neat, You get the gold look, Black, Or Silver like mine, Oh and theres the Rust look. lmfaoOriginally posted by ktl711 View PostI've got a feeling that the darkness of the rotors is just the machined surface reflecting the dark surfaces around it.

I've seen a lot of people paint their rotors - they burn off the moment you use your brakes the first time.- Brian Meissen

The rotors are not painted. They're zinc plated and will shave off the plating where they contact the brake pads within a matter of seconds the first time I hit the brakes. The zinc plating is to cover the areas of the rotor that do not see any friction so they don't rust and look nasty over time.Originally posted by fb0dy0nly View PostJust a quick thought on this picture, love the swap fyi but I thought painting rotors is a BAD idea. Here's the "no progress" update:
Literally everything is good to go with regard to starting the car. The only thing holding me up right now is the stupid eBay driver's side header that has the collector pipe running too close to the frame rail. I tried modifying the first piece of the LPP true dual exhaust to work around this problem and then I ran out of welding gas halfway through. That sealed my fate of not getting the car done for Dream Cruise since I wasn't able to get welding gas on a weekday since I work too late.
On top of that, I've been concentrating on getting a new daily driver....of which I will be picking up in Nashville in two weeks. Needless to say, I've been fairly distracted.
I'm going to be grabbing more welding gas this weekend. Let's see if I can get the car fired up then.
