1994 to 1995 Harness Discrepancies

Ok so after watching last nights films, ( we won ), scouting next weeks opponet, washing game jerseys and pants, ( and I volunteer for this). I took the time to jumper a wire into the harness. Didn't work. so I pulled out the other harness I have, *@#*, it's the same harness. PM me and we'll talk. Still no spark. Trying other diagnostics.

The other harness that you have only has one or two plugs for the passenger side strut tower?- Brian Meissen

Are you getting spark at the coil?
You may want to check the ICM (mounted behind coil) and make sure that is good.
Also, pick up a set of Noid Lights, they will tell you if the injectors are getting the pulse signal from the PCM.
I'll PM you here next week, I have a line on a few other ones that are local right now.

What are niod lights? And where would I get one, or a set?
How do you check the ICM ( Ignition control Module?)?
I found another post for checking the ICM ( I think thats what it is, odd bank head mounted above the coil.), I'm getting .49v ac to it. But the post says I should get 1 to 4 v ac. If it's there the problem is the coil. Doesn't say what's wrong if your not getting the correct voltage.
How do you measure across the coil? Coils I 've delt with have two wires and a single wire going to the distributor. Why does this have four? How do you check the Optispark? I did pressure wash the engine after I pulled it, before I dropped it in. I don't mind getting dirty, I just hate putting togeter something dirty. Could I have killed the opti? Guess using a timing light and a vac. gauge to ture your car are a thing of the distant past.
Any where I can find some detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot this,
in plain english? I don't know and ICM/PCM/MAP ( thats the folded paper in the glove box right?), from the left handed smoke shifter, or muffler bearings.
many thanks for your patients.

Noid lights can be bought at Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts or any Auto Parts store.
They cost about 20$.

I bought some NOID lights. Put one on the #2 injector, no blinky bliinky. I have 42lbs fuel pressure. It's been cold out, only 65 now, I'm going to wait until day light. And it warms up, supposed to be 90 tomorrow. Plus i'll be able to see what I'm doing. THanks a million for the links, and clearing up the acronims.
PCM Primary control modual?

Dave, don't talk about 65 being cold to us. It's 30 degrees out right now in MI.

If your Noid lights are not blinking (they are very bright) then the PCM is not getting the signal from the opti to the injectors.Originally posted by zdav28 View PostI bought some NOID lights. I would definitely check the ICM and see if the pink wire has 12volts (key on).
If it does then plug it back in and check the wire at the coil for 12volts (key on).
Along with the test I put up you should be able to tell if the PCM is working right or not.

Hey Guys,
Spent all day yesterday checking all the wires, sat with an Ohm meter and checked each pin connection to the PCM. I hav a coule of wires that were exsposed/frayed and were shorting to each other. I also move the pink wire from c105 to c100, made a trick tool from a dental pick, to remove the female connectoer from the housing. Worked great. Still no spark.
So I figure it's the PCM. Got on ebay and found a 95 PCM, the guy (mydeathmobile), lives here locally so I drove down to pick it up, took my PCM also. He took my PCM and dropped it into his converted 93 Impala SS, and it sparked. So back to the drawing board.
Only thing I can figure, as the Impala guy suggested, no voltage to the PCM.
I've checked the fuses in the engine compartment, all ok. Where else would I check? What would cause the PCM not to get POWER???????????

If you didn't have voltage to the PCM then when you turn the key into the on position you wouldn't hear the fuel pump even turn on.- Brian Meissen

Is there to check the ICM? I went to three autozones. each one said they had just updated the tester, and the ICM I have wasn't in the book. I checked the coil 79k ohms, so that should be in the range. I used my mutimeter on the pins of the ICM and got opens on every single combination I could for the 4 pins. Should there be some kind of resistance?

I'm not really good at the ohms measuring and what not, but according to this pic on Shbox's website, it says the ohms should be about 8000...

go to this link click diagram #1 and #3. #1 has ground wire pines going to PCM. #3 has all the ignition circuits. To check grounds put lead on battery +12 the - lead on pcm pins if you measure +12 then you have a good ground. there are 3-4 (don't remember) ground connections by icm mount stud. one is also a 1/4" braided wire that other end connects to frame by ABS unit.
