Hrmmm - that sounds weird. Unfortunately I don't know enough about electronics to be able to tell you why it should be 12v and it's only 0.14v.

Do you know what the black box is under the passenger side kick panel?
Would the VAT Modual keep this from happening?
I didn't change the VAT. I would have thought keeping the VAT in the car would be the best option. The security lite comes on with the key on, but does go out after afew seconds.
I'm almost thinking it would have been easier to swap interiors.
Have a filling turkey day, I'll get back on it friday.

It almost sounds like a bad gnd wire to the pump?
The VATS could keep the pump from coming on I would think.

If the security light turns off, it's not VATS. VATS will make the Security light blink. VATS disables the fuel pump and the starter relay. But, if the security light turns off - definitely not VATS.
I'm wondering if you have corrossion or a slight break in the dark green wire thats causing the weird voltage.- Brian Meissen

yes, keyless entry......just wondering if that might be something else I should look at.
I'm going to try and prime the pump again, and trace voltages from the PCM to the Pump Relay.
Bad ground? I made sure the grounding strap and ground wires at the ICM were good. The ground from the battery is good. I couldn't find anywhere else there was a ground on the motor. It is hard to get a ground at the pump, everything is painted, or insulated from the body. However the pump is grounding because I can prime it from the prime wire. I've got a good ground at the pump relay on the blk wire.
Just a lot of head scratching, but when I finally get it figured out WOOHOO.........
As always, because life gets in the way I can't always work on it and get back to post in a timely manner. I really appreciate the suggestions guys. Thanks

Talked to my dad - he said that a lower voltage than what it's supposed to have usually means the device has an open/bad ground.- Brian Meissen

I'll check on that.....Originally posted by meissen View PostThere's another ground strap by the passenger side motor mount...
I thought this also, replaced the relay from the running donor car.Originally posted by Phantom383 View PostI wonder if the relay for the pump is wigging out?
I'll be checking each wire for continuity, cabin side now. It took a while to do the engine compartment.Originally posted by meissen View PostTalked to my dad - he said that a lower voltage than what it's supposed to have usually means the device has an open/bad ground.

Ok the Dk Grn/wht wire comes from Pin 7 connector A of the pcm it goes to pin J of connector C220 passenger kick panel by remote key entry unit. That wire suppies the 12 Volts to pick the fuel pump relay (located in the drivers kick panel) the grd for that relay coil is pin B of connector C210. When this relay picks it supplys the 12 volt to the fuel pump and the fuel pump test lead.
You have already verified that if you jump 12v to the test lead pump runs.
so your problems seems centered in the Dk grn/wht from pcm. and the connector c220. or Relay itself. I think you have a bent pin or bad connection at C220, C210, or Pcm A7
Stick a straight pin through the insulation and see if you have 12v on both sides of connector c220. if not the work up and out to PCM, connector A which Is the RED connector.

I spent all day yesterday tracing cabin wires, and checking voltages. Still scratching my head. I give, I don't normally give up so easily, but I've got so many other pokers in the fire. I'm spending too much time on it. I'm looking for someone to fix this for me.
So any of you guys planning on coming to So.Cal anytime soon, BBQ steaks and cold beers, while we look up at the snow? We could make a beach run also, not good weather for watching the girls though.
Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. When I get this straightened out I'll post what was wrong.

Wish you were closer, Dave, I'd love to come help you out and see what we can do. I know what it's like to be stuck and just need someone else's help to get your way through the problem with these cars. Do you know if there's any FBody groups for SoCal that could lend a hand?- Brian Meissen

Ok guys, this is daves 17 year old son, Jordan. He and I built my 1972 Nova together. I've been helping him out with this camaro problem, i think we've narrowed it down to a bad ground for the fuel pump. We're still up for suggestions though. Took a look underneath the car, under the back drivers seat there is a connector that looks like it runs to the fuel pump. In the floorboard of the backseat, drivers side, there is a body plug with a black wire going through it, then when you look underneath the car, that black wire is cut. Don't know where its coming from and don't know where it's going. Any suggestions or thoughts on what this wire could be? The guy we got the car from did say he put an aftermarket fuel pump on the car, so could this cut wire be the ground wire, and he just wired it directly to the aftermarket pump, and when he took it out, just cut the wire and left it? There are the holes he drilled to mount the aftermarket fuel pump, right next to where that wire comes out of the car.

I can't find any wiring diagrams that actually show the wiring for the C405 plug (the plug on the backseat) except that I see the gray wire is the fuel pump's power wire and passes through C405. Honestly I'd probably just try grounding the black wire and see if it works. If it's ground it will work, if it's not you'll blow a fuse (hopefully it's going through a fused circuit LOL)- Brian Meissen
