I'm looking at a 224 or 228 but for the right price I might compromise .
I'll shoot you a budget as soon as I come up with one. The biggest expense of the entire project is going to be the damn T56, clutch and flywheel. This is one of very few times I've ever wished my car was an auto.

Damn my bad, I just realized that you'd have to swap over a lot of parts to run the LS2 cam in a LS1, wouldn't be worth it unless you wanted to buy a new timing cover and set ect and a wiring harness.Doing less with more

if he gave you the manifold and tb you scored nicely since the ls6 mani goes for like 200-300 by itself.------------------------------------------

Just got back around an hour ago from picking up the engine. Everything looks spiffy, heads are aluminum, pleasant surprise.
However, the entire drive back (about an hour and a half on what should have been 45 minutes), I couldn't help thinking all the things that I should be and need to be doing with the money I'm dumping into the engine build right now, and most of it is still going into the Camaro. It needs new shocks (and springs), and it needs bodywork and paint. As much as I would absolutely LOVE to go through with the swap, I'm just not sure I'm in a financial position to do it right now. I don't make much (for what I do), and I'm trying to stretch it pretty thin between all this and trying to move out in the next couple months.
Maybe I'll call this one off and see what happens in the spring, in the mean time it's just too much money to have tied up all at once. Maybe sell once the needed work is done in the spring and pick up an LS2 GTO...?

at least you are realizing it. Mine as well do the NEEDED maintenence on the car instead of having a piece of junk car half put together and no money. I laugh at all the (generally younger) guys who post up these huge plans on here and other websites, then a few months later you see them scrambling to sell the stuff they have acquired because it was too big of project for their income, or they are trying to get out of debt from all the cash they've wasted. I don't know how you plan on affording a GTO if you cannot afford a $3000 engine swap. If it were me id fix the camaro up right, and slowly AS YOU CAN HANDLE acquire parts and eventually.. even if its a few years, do the swap when you can handle it.Originally posted by TheyCallMe Tim View Post
