have to watch what heads you use cause it could drop the compression. remember, everyone uses ported 5.3's to raise compression because of the small chamber

A Full bolt ons, a 224 cam and get those heads ported and I bet that thing makes near 360-380 to the wheels if not more. Congrats dude!

Those engines are looking very tempting... I'm going to have to do some more research on hp/torque versus the LS1 and bore/stroke, redline.... They're all over fleabay with accessories, harness and ecu for around $700.

my dads 2002 Z71 will engage the positraction without having to do a brake torque. the way that thing gets up and goes, id swap a 5.3 into an fbody in a heartbeat. My only concern would be how much torque you could lose switching to the LS1 intake.

My dad had the same truck. I loved that thing, sounded mean with duals on it and had some serious kick. We gave a Mustang GT a run for its money in it once.

Thanks again guys. Its going to be a bit of work as none of the 5.3 accessories can be used. Well, I guess its more $ than work, but still. LS1 tech has some 5.3 numbers running around and there well, in ls1 territory. Definitely getting a cam and the tr224 seems to be the recommendation between here and on tech. Who would I get a hold of to do the heads, and how much $ am I looking at for something like that?

I wouldn't think you would lose very much torque it would just be pushed up higher in the powerband.
