we had a rebuilt 454 that was rebuilt 20 years ago. Still ran really strong when we sold the 69 corvette a month ago. My brother in law barley drove the car for the 8 years he had it (maybe 3000 miles). Id say its worth $1500.00 all day long. As long as he started it up and it ran strong. No smoke, good oil pressure, ect.
Buy it and drop it in. I wouldnt re-ring it or anything. Just check the normal gaskets for leaks (valve covers, timing chain cover, & oil pan)

Yeah, it gets driven at least once a week around town. And he just got back from a 500 mile trip with it last week. I'm not real worried about it, especially for what I'm paying While I think James has some valid concerns and good points, if I didn't know the person (he's family) and didn't trust the history or seen how immaculate the car is I would probably do exactly what James suggested. But for what I'm getting it for even if it took a dump the heads alone are worth it.

If I were the one selling it, I would be asking $2500 and expecting to get no less that $2000.
IF ...... he is as trusted as you think and the motor is in the condition you say.

And I agree ... if you buy it, just drop it in and run it. You can go throught it later if needed.
