  • Here we go.. LT1 time

As some of you may know this winter, the motor will be coming out of the TA and will be rebuilt along with a few goodies. Now here is where the questions start.. Should i stick with the idea of high compression low duration cam? or should i send my heads to either AI or LE or a local place and get them ported, polished and then go with a larger duration cam? The car is 99% a street car and probably wont ever see a track so i would like for my build to generate plenty of torque down in street usable RPM.. My goal is 4xxRWHP even if i make 401 ill be happy. Any help is appreciated.

To hit that goal i would use the same cam as the rest of us, with high compression and send the heads to AI as well. Give them a call they will talk you through what is the best fit for your goals.

Big duration = peaky, i think its pretty clear thats not what youre looking for.

I should still have a order sheet from AI that will make over 500rwhp NA if you want to build it haha.

Correct me if im wrong, but when you send AI your heads for porting, dont they increase combustion chamber size, thus lowering compression?

Youd have to talk to them. My understanding is that runner volume is increased, not combustion chamber.

Ill definitely be giving both AI and LE a call. Ive read good things about the comp cam EFI series as far as a bigger duration cam and smoother powerband. Ive got a while before i start ordering parts.

TJ, how many cases of PBR is it gonna cost me to tune this biotch
