Need Help With My Hurst Shifter - T5 trans

I picked up a used Hurst Billet Pro shifter on the classifieds on TGO and i'm running into an issue with the install. It's an 86 iroc with a T5.


Bolted right up, but the shifter handle is so far left that it will never work with my center console. When mounted in this configuration, it will hit all gears. (The hurst logo reads normally)

When I turn the shifter around, the handle is in the appropriate location, but I can't hit 1st 3rd or 5th. There's not enough throw. (The hurst logo reads upside down)

The OEM shifter mounts in and works just fine. The handle is in the right spot as well.

This is the shifter on the bench. Note the handle veers left when it should veer right.

I know these things are typically a straight forward install, but it won't work for me. What could be going on?

Looks like someone pulled it apart and didn't orient the pivot arm correctly during reassembly.

Totally. Is that something that I can fix? That wasn't depicted to me previous to sale. I was assured that they would work with my car in it's present configuration.

I guess I've been trying to sleep for long enough, not going to happen (I have to show up for work at 2am)

Pulling those 4 torx bolts will allow the arm to come out. There will be springs underneath so take it slow.

I can get some pictures tomorrow if need be. Do all 4 bolt holes for the shifter line up?

Yes, all 4 do line up. I started pulling those torx bolts and saw the springs and decided to ask around before I tempt fate lol I'm working from home today so I'll check it out on my 'lunch'

That was my first thought... We'll see. Going to go bust it apart now.
