I have a 1994 z28 I haze 273 gears in it now... I was wondering if its worth going to 373.... is it a do it yourself job.... or have a shop do it.... any particular brand to stay away from. ...

Probably better off finding a complete 3.73 rear and swap rears. Would be cheaper. When in doubt, Whip it out !

I wanted 373s. Ended up getting a used 10 bolt with 342s already in it. That's your best cost efficient way to go. Don't dump any more in that 10 bolt than needed.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Agreed on the whole axle swap. Gears will cost around $175 give or take depending on brand, then you need to properly set them up. Not a job for a beginner unless you want to learn. I think it took me a whole day to properly set my first ring/pinion set since I didn't have a set of setup bearings.
Not sure if any 4th gen f-body came with 3.73's unless it was a SLP option
Generally - V6 cars came 3.23 or 3.42's. V8 cars had 2.73 or 3.23 behind auto, M6 cars had 3.42. I bought a V6 rear with 3.42 and swapped the aftermarket TrueTrac over

I do have a 98 rear housing with axles and brakes, did have 3.73 gears but they howled like a banshee. I have an open diff to toss in, but I doubt any enthusiast would want that
If you want the 3.73 gears, you can have them. I was going to scrap them, but maybe free will make you overlook the howl?

I was kidding, but whoever wants them can take 'em. Not sure what brand they are, but the gears were set correctly yet the tooth contact areas didn't harden like they should have. My only guess is that the PO didn't break them in like he should have.
AAM gears are considered the best, from what I've read.
