  • ABS diagnosing

When I bought this roller it was missing a portion of the harness for the passenger side front ABS harness. Brian (bri2203) sent me a porting from his TA part out (a HUGE thank you!) and I got it soldered/shrink wrapped/twisted. Still ABS INOP light.

Pulled out the scanner. Well, 1998 ABS isn't compatible with my ABS scanner (only 99+ f-body) so I started doing some manual testing.

Checked fuses - all look good (will double check all again this afternoon)
Checked third brake lights - one bulb bad, replaced both.
Checked parking lights - 4 small 194 bulbs bad, replaced.
Checked all three speed sensors - .998 to 1.008 KΩ.
Checked reference voltage at all three - 4.75 volts.

Only ABS INOP light is on, BRAKE light is off.

I have not tried to drive it yet to see if the light will go out. I'm going to unhook the battery for a bit before I try. Any other thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!

Yup, switch over the OEM reluctor ring onto the TrueTrac.

From my understanding, it should self test after key on then perform another set of rolling tests.

ABS pump works, ran some jumper wires.

        Did some more diagnosing.

Found that the pins for the rear sensor harness were pulled out a bit from the body side connector. Fixed the erratic ohm reading, but not the ABS light.

I went from the 30 pin connector on the EBCM this time to get a more accurate measurement of the sensors at the EBCM.

        On the non TCS ABS:
Pins 3/5 Passenger Front sensor - 1.020 KΩ
Pins 20/21 Driver front sensor - 1.026 KΩ
        Pins 22/23 Rear sensor - 1.076KΩ

What's weird is on the TCS ABS (blue 1998 Z28) pins 4/5 were for the front passenger side abs sensor?? Driver front was still pins 20/21. I cannot find a pinout of these Bosch 5.3 systems anywhere.

I'm at a loss with this freakin' thing

I think I'll open up the EBCM and melt some solder on all the pins. Really wish I had access to a Tech-II!
