OK, I will feely admit I'm still somewhat of a NOOB when it comes to this stuff. I've been working on cars since I was ten, but I've never gone "full internal" on an engine, and transmissions are greek to me. But...
On my 2000 Trans Am, I have what I would describe as a wicked hesitation. So long as I keep the throttle below 50% pedal, it seems fine. If I push it to the floor, it seems fine. In the in between space, it seems to throttle fine, then it "dumps down". The closest thing I can liken it to is traction control, or ESP. Its like you lose throttle response and it bogs or lags. The only codes it is setting is for a cat problem on the drivers side. It doesn't misfire, though it does have a slight dieseling sound at high load. Not tied to the other issue usually.
While at Bens, his friend, well I guess our friend now, Dane took a look at it and a quick ride. He believes that the trans fluid may be old/burned/thined out, and the trans isn't building proper pressure to shift properly. The fluid DOES smell a little burned, and I will be doing a complete flush and filter on it.
So has anyone else heard of anything like this? What else should I be looking at?
