  • Can anyone tell me anything about my rearend?

Really clueless as to what is in here. I believe its a limited slip. Is this a stock limited slip?

Cool, just wanted to make sure! It's got 3.73 gears, so I just wanted to make sure it was still the same posi unit.

They aren't the greatest carriers, but I guess they get the job done...until they wear out. They OEM's aren't rebuildable.

When she goes she goes. Then I'll put an Eaton in.

no, when it goes you'll put a S60, 9 inch, or 12 bolt. Not worth putting any money into these rears. You'll probably break the ring and pinion and take out the posi unit at the same time.

Even better plan!! What's the best rear for a street car?? I doubt I'll see much track time, but Woodward is a different story.

Any of those rears are good. The 9in weighs less than the 60.

The 10 bolt is fine for the street. Traction and wheel hop are what kills 10 bolts. My car makes 373rwhp and barks 4th gear. ive power shifted the snot out of it for 10k miles with a spec clutch. My buddy has the same setup with 500+rwhp, and even drag radials and has trapped close to 130. Both stock 3.42 10 bolts, both still alive. Niether of us have ever cut better than a 2.1 60' though... So the load they are bearing in a launch scenario is probably still less than a 300rwhp stalled auto would hit it with.

Exactly! No need for a beefier rear with anything under 500hp on the street with street tires IMO.

I was consistently getting 2.0 and 1.9 60' at Lapeer last summer with this rear end. Obviously probably has more to do with the auto trans though.

I think youre safe there. If you start cutting 1.8s and less consistently its going to be a matter of chance from then on. Some hang tire, others pop if you look at them wrong.

Mine seems to be doing well, I have "money" into it though. Cutting 1.74 60' last year, hoping to see a 1.6X this year with the new converter.

Would a Torsen be an upgrade from the Auburn unit?
