Now all i have to do is get a stall that will work great and figure whats involved in the swap. Got some clue but specifics will help. What size stall will be best for street and strip? More street. oh yeah my 60e and 3500 stall is up for grabs. Will split and sell or possible trade for other stuff ill need for my huron speed turbo kit. Lmk
most converter companies will be able to make a converter that will bolt right up, you will need a different flexplate I believe, some small cutting to the floorpan for the electronics, a way to control the trans seeing as a 98' pcm supposedly can't do it without some repinning. modify the stock crossmember or buy aftermarket. I think that covers most of it.

yank converters is having their black friday sale this week. 10% off all of their converters. Seems the people on ls1tech just swear by them. Thinking about picking one up myself.

you will need a dipstick
you MUST use the stock fittings for the cooler lines in the trans. one of them has a long pipe internally and with out it you will kill the trans

been reading a lot on tech. so much to learn. i learn easier and faster by doing and not reading. cant wait to start piecing this stuff together. what size stall would you guys recommend?
You want something made specifically to your set up and what you want to use it for. Call a reputable converter company such as ProTorque, FTI, Circle-D, etc. and chat with them and have them spec you out something that will do what you want.
FWIW the last time I really researched this subject I only found one person able to get the 98' PCM to control an electronic 80e and I know he repinned the harness as well as PCM adjustments.

Pay attention to the transmission years that the company says they fit in. There's two different diameters that are slightly different.
Contact John Wade (slow67 on LS1Tech) and ask him whether or not your PCM can control the 4l80e properly. Regardless of the year of PCM, you will have to flash it using HPTuners to either do a segment swap (not recommended if you value proper TCC engagement) or remove a couple of OBD2 codes to prevent the car from going into limp mode when you use John's method of controlling it (highly recommended).
