      I'm sure its an RMVB. If your going to downshift the trans manually(Which you shouldn't be doing at speed in a TH400 with an RMVB anyways) I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem flipping a lock up switch.

          Slightly off topic, but I've heard this before and I have to ask... what do you do if you're cruising along and want to accelerate quickly in a situation where a downshift would normally be desirable?

            When you add a manual valve body with a trans brake you remove the forward band which holds the direct drum. A Built TH400 will freewheel when you let off the throttle in 2nd gear unless built not to do so. This over speeds the drum which can cause it to explode among other things. At least thats how I understand it. I'm not a transmission expert.

            If you need to downshift out of high gear you would need to wait until you are slowed down or be on the throttle while downshifting.

              What you bought was one of my lock up th400's. It was basically the last one i did. I do have special hubs to put the converter together for it. You can call me at 586-255-3426. If i dont answer right away, leave a msg and ill call u right back
