  • 6.0 piston slap

The 6.0 I bought has less than 36k miles on it and was a replaced due to piston slap that these motors can get. Any suggestions on how to go about it? Live with it because in reality it really is just annoying and not a death sentence for the motor? I'm not too worried about it, but if sell the car I don't want it to scare away potential buyers or have have to reduce my asking price because of it.

New press fit hypereutectic pistons 9.5:1 for $190 using original rings

    Or...

OEM full floating rods - $175 new, $88 used
OEM floating dished pistons - $70 used using original rings
    or
Hypereutectic floating pistons 9.5:1 - $318 using original rings

Full balance if I do end up pistons and or rods, unless I can find a gram scale and it's within a few percent.

Usually only last a minute on cold start. I have seen them go 300k without issue

yup, just a turn off anything that can be done w/o replacing pistons? ie different oil weight or brand like amsoil, etc?

If you put pistons in it make sure to open up the ring gaps a bit in case you decide to boost it or add a good sized shot of n2o down the road
