sad to say i think my transmission is blown... i have a 94 25th anniversary automatic. anyone have any idea of how much this will cost me if this is the case? or can i get a used one ect... pretty bummed out

To have the shop do all the work, it can run as high as $1800 (or more with options)

$300 should get you a nice used one but you'll have quite a bit of time invested in swapping them. You'll need a 4L60e from a 94-97 f-body (or 92-95 corvette, 93-96 Impala/Caprice if you swap tail housings) not a regular 4L60/700r4

Cost me $3000 to have a shop do my T56...Stupid!! Make sure you pull that thing out yourself if you plan on taking it somewhere.

That's entirely too much money for a rebuild....you can find brand new OEM t56's for that price. If you went with all the bells and whistle then it's a different story

Yeah I came to find this out later...that doesn't even include the money for the new clutch or the money I spent on a rental car for a two weeks. It pretty much was new once they were done with it, but I will never go back to West Michigan Transmission again! The worse part about it is I was recommended to that place by a mifbody member.

Anthony, do you remember what they did? If all the gears are good (no worn dogs, no pitted gears) I can do a master rebuild for under $700, a basic syncro rebuild for less than $350. That's including my time.

If your dropping the car off somewhere, I would say expect a MINIMUM of $1300-1500. If you need anything more than a stock rebuild expect more.

Yup, I'd say 1300-1800 for parts and labor is about standard for any common US passenger car/light duty pickup automatic transmission rebuild.

i just re-built my tranny, same trans for about 285-300$ for all the internals, and fluid, filter and gaskets.

They replaced 4 of the gears and the main shaft, can't remember exactly what...but I have a box of parts that they replaced.

it was the transmission mount.. It was cracked only $123 to fix back on the road!
