The rods defiantly needed to be resized with the arp rod bolts installed, I had mine done that way and my engine builder said it was not an option.

only aftermarket part is the rod bolts. take a look for yourself.

You took the rods out for resize?

bought the motor as a take out of an 05 GTO, had a spun rod bearing, everything else was super clean so I had it cleaned up and ARPs installed because they are cheap insurance. Dave checked the rods before and after and said that the ARPs clamp much better and they need to be resized so he did that as well as polishing the crank and reassembling the shortblock.

IMO its very possible Mike's issue could be related to the rod bolts but its just a guess until he tears it down.

I think I may have heard that before as well. I think it was a thread on tech, they were discussing it and how katech was claiming theres did not require that vs ARP.
