NGK lists then as .750" reach but they protrude a lot more than other plugs. Runs well for an untuned engine with the Bosch plugs.Originally posted by 85z28kid View PostWow those were real wrong plugs!! What jackass said they were the right ones? Lucky it didn't hurt any thing else. How's it run with good plugs now? Also why don't you run an aftermarket ECM?
I don't have the money to go with an aftermarket setup. I have a Gen6 DFI on the Bel Air and the stock 165 seems more refined then that.

Depends on your definition of good. I have a bunch of stuff, some it would be consider junk by most but to the guys restoring a 50's Chevy it's a different story. What are you looking for?Originally posted by 85z28kid View PostGot anything good to trade? I got a nice Holley commander setup with wideband I'm looking to get rid of

Hmm...let me think of what would work. I don't know if I'd want to run a Holley setup. I'd like to keep it legal in as many states as possible. Anyway, here is what I haveOriginally posted by 85z28kid View PostAnything I could use on my car. Whatcha got? To bad I ain't got a 50's chevy
Complete Energy Suspension kit
305 w/ TPI - minus fuel rail, harness, and computer
700r4 - rebuilt, shift correction kit, Corvette servo, bigger boost valves
rear drums w/ cables

Just in case I ever have to move. I've had job offers (upon completion of my BS degree) from TN, CA, and WA. EGR tuning should help a little with MPG as well. Then again, there are ways around emissions.Originally posted by 85z28kid View PostWhy do you wanna keep it legal l? Michigan doesn't have emissions testing. Also idk if Holley isn't 50state legal.
I might be interested in the 700r4 depending on the mileage on it
I don't know the mileage on the trans. It think it was done by the previous, previous owner. The guy I bought the car from didn't drive it much, I didn't drive it much before tearing it part but shifted great. Crisp and little bit more snappy than stock. When I dropped the pan to install all the goodies (was going to put it behind the 355) the fluid was clean, magnet had minimal build up, and had I forget the name printed on the gaskets (not stock). Car has 158k on it, so who knows when it was rebuilt. It might go into my dad's '60 Impala, he needs to make up his mine if he wants the DZ302 with the Muncie or the 700r4, or the 5.3l with yada yada.

No, emissions are not stupid. I too used to not care, but having a very asthmatic nephew gave me a new outlook on air quality. I'm not a hippy tree hugger, nor a huge advocate of clean air, but I will do what I can when I can. As for fuel economy, I will take every bit that I can get. If I kept my 2.73's I could probably put down around 28 highwayOriginally posted by 85z28kid View Post**** emissions they are stupid!! Gas mileage what is that? Your in the wrong kinda car to worry about that? I get about 19-21 with an over jetted 355. What more could you ask for than that?
Edit: If my friend can put down 447rwhp and get 20mpg with a 4.30 gear, I think I should be able to get ~25 with my new setup. Crossing my fingers!Last edited by hoogiesngrinderz; December 15th, 2011, 03:50 PM.

I don't think air quality has to do with asthma does it? I thought it was just not enough air getting into the lungs cuz of constriction of the windpipe?
Not dissing him at all I have a cousin with cerebral palsey so I know what it feels like to have a family member that's had medical issues.
Tree huggers are not my friends I buy standing timber, so we cut trees down every day.
But 25 should be easy with a 355 and efi. Sometimes the lowest rpms isn't the best. You can actually work the motor harder. I like to have my motors turn about 2200 on the highway at 80 so it's not loading the motor.

Yes, that is what asthma is - constriction and inflammation. But, and this is a HUGE but, asthma attacks are brought on by triggers - smoke, pollen, dust, air pollution, etc. Exhaust fumes from our older cars set him off which sucks because he is a 3 year old that loves his cars. He likes "Cedes" and "Roos", Mercedes and Subaru, because his dad and my sister have a 1958 SL190 and a couple Outbacks.
Tree huggers are annoying
They should just sit quietly on their mom's couch and take some more rips from the bong, or get a job and be a productive member of society so they might have a chance at changing the way things work.
I kid, I have some hippy tree hugging friends. At least they know where to draw the line.
As for mileage, the few highway trips I took saw almost 30mpg with my 305 and 2.73's, right around 2000 RPM at 80. The new setup should turn about 2650 RPM at 80.Last edited by hoogiesngrinderz; December 31st, 2011, 02:07 AM.
