Being "old school" and remembering how to powershift a car (got to try it with a new Grand Sport Corvette a couple of weeks ago) I was wondering if anybody still does it with the 6 speed transmissions in Fbodies. I understand the problems with the rear ends breaking, but this was just floating around in my head.

A powershifted manual trans is faster than any auto in the quarter mile, but an auto is going to be faster than a slowly shifted manual. When in doubt, Whip it out !

Did it a few times to my LT1 car before 2nd gear went
I highly doubt powershifting a car would gain me any time over how I currently shift the car

auto car will always be quicker if you have the right convertor. they are able to keep the engine at peak power. i have graphs (gear ratio/mph)) overlaid on dyno sheets to show where i need to shift in each gear for the least amount of power loss.
when most people powershift you can hear the engine rpm spike between gears. no one though i powershifted because you couldnt hear that on mine
