I dont see anything wrong, all the play appears to be in the center section.

I have to go get some RTV, if I dont hear otherwise by the time I get back im going to button it up and call it a day.

Fluid has some specs in it, but no huge hunks of metal.

My 10 bolt in my 94 6 speed camaro howled for years and I still ran it and beat it mercelessly. Eric L

When I look close at the 3rd picture it looks like the ring gear is worn there appears like a ridge towards the center of the teeth.

Everything looks good to me. I beat on my ten bolt everytime i drive the car. When it breaks, then worry about it. Unless of course you have 2k sitting around for an upgrade.....

backlash with "feel" almost double when turning the pinion. hold the pinion and rock the ring back and forth. if you have a dial indicator you can check it.
also. grab the pinion and push straight up and down. The most common thing is to crush the crush sleave which in turn changes the pattern and basklash

Before I put it back together I held the ring and tried turning the pinion, I didnt feel any slack at all here (like my old factory 10 bolt I pulled out and was talking about earlier). I was reading about the crush sleeve thing on tech and I tried moving the pinion every which way but it wouldnt budge. So im assuming the crush sleeve and pinion bearing are good.

if the sleave or bearing is bad the pinion will normally be leaking too.

I doesnt leak, so I guess thats good. Im just going to drive it like I normally do, when it explodes, we'll take it from there I guess.

its like someone else said its more then likely the center section/differential play.... those zextel torsion diff have a tendency to have more play then the alburn style with clutches and such .... 10 bolts should get ya deep into the 12's some guys break 11's with them but like someone else said the man. cars are alot harder on the driveline from shock and such then a auto car

I agree, the auto is WAY easier on the rear than a T56. It should last a good long time. Eric L
