I have a Moser 12 bolt, and a 3:73 gear, also a custom aluminum driveshaft. Right before I put the car away for winter it started to make a noise. It sounds like the driveshaft is loose, maybe the U-Joints, could this happen from it being cold out? I've never really dealt with a rear end, or any of the stuff there. So this is all new to me. Maybe someone can come look at it? I'm lost with this thing.

If your close to 12 mile, i could have my dad look at it hes a master mechanic, and deals with transmissions and rear ends as his job.Originally posted by PWND3r View Post

The car is not at my house. It's at my parent's. Which is 15min. away, I'm not really worried about it now, as it's winter and the car won't come out of storage until it's warm. I just thought I'd ask so I can get a rough idea.Originally posted by Xx573v3xX_Z28 View PostIf your close to 12 mile, i could have my dad look at it hes a master mechanic, and deals with transmissions and rear ends as his job.Joe - ATM SQUADAt the shop, watching them build my car.

2 guess based on your description and where the noise is. 1. u joint, and 2. trans mount. tail of trans would be right there. But we all know how sounds travel.sigpic

The noise is continuous. I'm thinking it maybe a mixture of both, but ughhhh I don't want to change my trans mount. Anyone want to help?

Thats a good suggestion too.Originally posted by 1BADAIR View Posthow often do you tighten the torque arm bracket?
I bet it is loose.
describe the noise better
One way to distinguish u joint sound, they make noise when going bad under load or power, shift to neutral and coast a bit. if noise stops could likely be u joint.sigpic

Honestly, I haven't even gotten under the car yet. I guess it's oil change time and time to tighten every nut and bolt.Originally posted by 1BADAIR View Posthow often do you tighten the torque arm bracket?

I don't know how to describe it any better lol.Joe - ATM SQUADAt the shop, watching them build my car.

the 4 bolt mosers have issues. I have made it better but still have them.
I have shims between the houseing and TA bracket to limit the clearance. before you the bolts would tighten but the tightness was just from the bracket tweaking. the bracket would never actually clamp the housing without the shims
I have now tack welded the head of the bolts to keep them tight. I broke two of the tacks this year

Well it was doing it while I was driving it on Friday, so therefore I think it's something with the driveshaft or rear-end. Larry (Plum Nuts) mind taking a look at it? Maybe next time on Woodward, I'll take you for a ride too.Joe - ATM SQUADAt the shop, watching them build my car.
