What's the difference between the v6 and v8 rear ends? Different gearing? Obviously the drum vs rotor, but I'm more interested in the internals?

or 3.23, but yea besides posi otherwise there really isnt a difference between v6 and v8 for lt1 years, y87 v6s even had the posi. I know on the newer ls1 cars the abs and tcs sensors are at the ends of the rear on ls1s and on top of the pumpkin for v6 traction control cars.Originally posted by Syn View Postv6 is usually a 1 tire fire from what ive seen, v8s are 3.42 and 2.73 with a lsd-Derek-

with a 2600-ish stall, what gear ratio would be best?- Brian Meissen

Also, if you convert the rear end, and need a diff. I can probably dig one up for you. I think I have an extra laying around in the barn. I have two extra sets of gears as well, but they are 4.10 and 4.56 which i don't think would be a good idea in an auto.

I think I've got an Auburn laying around and a Torsen, but that one may be blown, I gotta look into it.
