Lol, go try again. That would mean that you have like a 1.875 rear end. I'm going to guess that you missed a revolution and over estimated a bit, and that in fact they are 2.73.

Lol, I don't know then, that was just my guess because a 2.73 gear is close to 2 3/4 turns of the driveshaft. Or the 7/8 that you said.Originally posted by twoolley08 View Posthaha maybe so but the rpo on the door states its a 3.23

the factory tach is usually off by about 200-300rpmOriginally posted by twoolley08 View Postalright well i found that info, it states its a 3.23 gear. except i found a site that supposably tells you your gear by speed rpm and tire and it says 3.73 sooo im inclinded to think that it has been changed

90% of aftermarket gears are going to make noise.
My 3.73 gears make a little noise.
My Nephew just paid for a brand new rear end for his 72 Formula.
That has a 4.11 gear in it, that also makes noise.
I have a Richmond, and hes got an Eaton.
But if it didn't make noise, and now its making noise. 1st thing you do is check the gear lube in the rear end.
Its supposed to be changed every 25,000 miles.sigpic

I have aftermarket 3:73's and they've howled since I owned the car. Accel, Decel, steady speed.. Had em checked out, changed lube, everything was fine. Just noisy gears..sigpic
