since the tranny is out of the car, ive decided maybe i should replace the rear main seal as it has been leaving a couple drops of oil here and there. checked the oil and tranny pan, but no leak and the valve covers are clean too. anyone do this before? and ive read about a new updated version of the old seal, anyone have a part number? Thanks. oh yeah and no news on my trans yet.

well yesterday during our travels i noticed my car was leaving a trail of smoke. ecspecially when i would get on it. not to mention, i sprayed oil all over the pretty gold camaro all the way back to grand rapids. get home, get the car in the air and the whole bottom of my car is soaked in oil. after wiping everything down, i cant seem to find the source but im sure its the rear main seal. just sucks because i have to pull the tranny again and the car will be down for a few days.sigpic

well today i removed the trans and flywheel and tried for a second to get the seal out and finally figured it would just be easier to take the whole cover off. the seal didnt seem messed up and dint see as much oil as expected. its the only thing that it can be becuase everything above is dry. ill change these parts, do an oil change and put it back together. the whole underside of my car is soaked in oil, from the trans back. heres a pic of the rear of the motor, before i took the cover off.
