so its not safe to manually shift an electronic (4l60e) but if you have a manual valve body like on my 4l60 its okay?

my trans is built, sometimes i go from first-neutral-second-neutral-third... (make it sound like a manual lol) i have a year warrenty as well, but I guess i could see where an electronic trans it would be bad, but how could it hurt a non electronic? ???

Yep thats why I always tell everyone, DON'T MANUALLY SHIFT YOUR AUTO TRANS. Besides the trans can shift faster than you so why even bother? Hope Larry sees this thread because he does the same shit.

Larry saw it!! lol I'm going to test your theory next week at the track, gonna launch in 3rd and let it do it's own shifting.. But before I leave I'm gonna make a pass with me shifting, just to compare cause I love shifting manually.. Sorry dude can't help it!!!

I agree I think its pointless to try and shift it yourself. Plus I think this attributes to many trans failures. The only time my shifter ever leaves the D position is when I'm rolling threw a parking lot and I want to make some noise hehe

they say it doesnt hurt it. but i still think there will be less of it once i get mine back.

                from their FAQ page

3-Manual shifting of transmission. Contrary to popular thought, doing this occasionally will not hurt your unit. In fact, there are some instances where it can be beneficial. For example, when roll racing, bringing on the low clutch by manually putting the transmission into first helps support the low and input sprags. Another example would be burn outs, as again it will help to support the sprags by turning on the low clutch and the overrun clutch. Placing the transmission in D3 rather than the OD position is always a good idea when using nitrous or turbo/supercharger applications. Although we use the strongest sprag available, the BorgWarner dual cage input sprag it is still the weakest link in the transmission. Also, the overrun clutch being on to help support it is a good idea. Note however that on our level three unit (which is capable of downshifting to manual first at any speed) there is a risk of overevving the engine and causing damage to the engine.

I honestly wanna go out and make a vid right now, how in the hell does your trans shift faster when you do it? Mine has a lag to it if I manually shift it but then again its been a long while since then.

my trans must have just been shitty last I tried it then because there was definatly a second delay even though I was on the gas right after shifting.

yeah me too...well got the trans to DHL today at 11am. i hope it doesnt take to long to rebuild. the guy says 5 days turnaround, but that just isnt my luck. now the car sits. maybe i can go pick up a couple things for it while it waits. i know i need a new drivers window motor and i want to replace the torque arm bushing. i bought new u joints but dont have anything that will heat them damn things up enough to squirt that plastic that holds em together. any ideas?

not sure on the ujoints but i just installed a energy suspension tq arm mount i got from 97rs4life and it got rid of all my noises that i thought were ujoints...

good luck with the install, hopefully it lasts
