  • ABS & TCS delete?

Anyone here delete their ABS and TCS? I looked on ls1tech and seen some nice setups of people deleting ABS and buying those SJM kits for a lot of $$$.

Couldn't you just pull the ABS fuse and cap off the lines or something and then rip out the box. No need to rig up those other lines and proportioning valve to change the brake ratio away from 50/50? Save even more weight off the nose.

TCS can be disabled from using HPtuners then and the tcs lines can be removed for some weight reduction too.

Any suggestions or tips on deleting the ABS, or at least the rear ABS.

This is for my brothers 99 bird that we are trying to figure this all out. He has one ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin (and has TCS on his v6) and the v8 rear he bought has a sensor by each axle for ABS. So we want to just not use the ABS for the back and not worry about the two sensor thing

I don't think the brake bias is 50/50. The front's always do more braking, even with rear discs. The proportioning valve is built into the ABS block. You can buy a valve from Summit racing for under $50 and it's lightweight billet aluminum. The problem is you need a distribution block to tie the lines together then to run two to the master cylinder. I don't know what the options are for the electrical side of the ABS though.

Yeah I could've sworn that it was like 40 rear/ 60 front or something like that.

my car never had traction control. in the first place. and when i put in my 9" i lost the ABS as well. now that my car is under the knife. i ripped the whole big honkey ass ABS block out of the car. i'm just going to redo all the brake lines and call it good. my friend Greg did it on Francis's car (1BadWS6) the 9 sec. nitrous car....

the front lines just need a T off the master. the rear need a prop vavle.
The abs unit doesn't need to be removed to use that axle. They even sell a adapter harness to use a 4 channel rear in a 3 channel car now

Brake bias is never ideal at a static split...

The faster you stop, the more bias you want at the front. On ice and snow, it would be nice to have a 50/50..

Besides, i doubt you will outbrake an ABS system unless your a highly trained driver.. and most of the time when you want to stop really fast the brake pedal just gets mashed to the rug...

Or all of the time if you have a thirdgen.

                    10.5" rotors FTW!
